Biorthogonal Wavelet Space: Parametrization and Factorization

چکیده
In this paper we study the algebraic and geometric structure of the space of compactly supported biorthogonal wavelets. We prove that any biorthogonal wavelet matrix pair (which consists of the scaling lters and wavelet lters) can be factored as the product of primitive parau-nitary matrices, a pseudo identity matrix pair, an invertible matrix, and the canonical Haar matrix. Compared with the factorization results of orthogonal wavelets, now it becomes apparent that the diierence between orthogonal and biorthogonal wavelets lies in the pseudo identity matrix pair and the invertible matrix, which in the orthogonal setting will be the identity matrix and a unitary matrix. Thus by setting the pseudo identity matrix pair to be the identity matrix and using the Schmidt orthogonalization method on the invertible matrix, it is very straightforward to convert a biorthogonal wavelet pair into an orthogonal wavelet.

Parametrization of discrete finite biorthogonal wavelets with linear phase
We present a parametrization of discrete finite biorthogonal wavelets with linear phase. Our approach is similar to Zou and Tewfik’s for orthogonal wavelets in the way that we utilize a lattice factorization of polyphase matrices of twochannel PR filter banks. However in the biorthogonal case we are faced with the additional possibilitiy of having length differences between the lowand high-pass...
متن کاملAn Algebraic Structure of Orthogonal Wavelet Space 1
In this paper we study the algebraic structure of the space of compactly supported orthonormal wavelets over real numbers. Based on the parametrization of wavelet space, one can deene a parameter mapping from the wavelet space of rank 2 (or 2-band, scale factor of 2) and genus g to the (g ? 1) dimensional real torus (the products of unit circles). By the uniqueness and exactness of factorizatio...
متن کاملImage Compression Method Based on QR-Wavelet Transformation
In this paper, a procedure is reported that discuss how linear algebra can be used in image compression. The basic idea is that each image can be represented as a matrix. We apply linear algebra (QR factorization and wavelet transformation algorithms) on this matrix and get a reduced matrix out such that the image corresponding to this reduced matrix requires much less storage space than th...

We show that a multi-dimensional scaling function of order γ (possibly fractional) can always be represented as the convolution of a polyharmonic B-spline of order γ and a distribution with a bounded Fourier transform which has neither order nor smoothness. The presence of the B-spline convolution factor explains all key wavelet properties: order of approximation, reproduction of polynomials, v...
متن کاملBiorthogonal Wavelet Packets Associated with Nonuniform Multiresolution
In this paper, we introduce the notion of biorthogonal wavelet packets associated with nonuniform multiresoltion analysis and study their characteristics by means of Fourier transform. Three biorthogonal formulas regarding these wavelet packets are established. Moreover, it is shown how to obtain several new Riesz bases of the space (R) by constructing a series of subspaces of these nonuniform ...
